Advent Prayer Calendar: Day 21

At Advent, we turn our hearts and minds towards the light that broke into the world’s darkness. The light that has changed everything. We are invited to encounter that light and then asked to be that light ourselves, in a world that so desperately needs it. These short, daily reflections will help you to fix your eyes on Jesus and ponder how you can bring light into dark places. This year’s Advent Prayer Guide has been written by Fred and Caroline Drummond and is used by permission.

“When Herod realised that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious.” Matthew 2:16

Reflect: It always astounds me how amazing love or good news can provoke such violent responses. There are those in the world who will do everything they can to stop the plan of God. However, God will always prevail. His kingdom will advance. Our next few days of prayer are for the persecuted Church.
Prayer: Lord, your word tells us that when one part suffers we all suffer. We pray now for our brothers and sisters across the world who are being persecuted for their faith and we pray for all persecuted people, that your love would be with them. Amen.
