Day 7: North Africa – The faith of our fathers
Some of Christianity’s great church fathers and mothers, like Augustine, Tertullian, Cyprian, Perpetua and Felicitas came from North Africa. Their legacy has inspired and informed generations of Christians. Today, the North African nations, stretching from Mauritania to Libya, claim to be 99% Islamic. Thousands of Berbers are, however, turning to Christ. One Muslim-background Christ-follower confessed, “Our ancestors were followers of Jesus. Augustine was a Berber, like us. We are just returning to the faith of our fathers.”
How can we pray?
- Praise the Lord for answering prayer.
- Praise His name for the thousands coming into His kingdom.
- Pray for satellite television and radio ministries to continue to reach millions for the Lord Jesus.
- Ask for Christian families raising their children as believers in the face of strong opposition to continue to do so.
Father we proclaim to Christians in Muslim nations: Pray that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. (Philippians 1:9–11).
